What Calgary Signage Services Does Bold Signs Provide?
We produce and install temporary and permanent signs across Calgary. Our temporary sign inventory covers portable A-frames, coroplast yard signs, metal H-frame signs in 4x4 and 4x8 standard sizes, and wheeled mobile signs that can be repositioned as your campaign evolves. Permanent signage includes storefront fascia panels, building-mounted identification signs, and community association display boards built for Alberta's freeze-thaw cycle.
Every signage Calgary project starts with a consultation about placement, not just design. Where your sign goes determines whether it performs — a well-designed sign in the wrong location is a wasted investment. Our team has placed signs across every Calgary quadrant for two decades and knows which intersections generate the most exposure for mobile signs, which commercial strips enforce bylaw compliance most actively, and which community districts have aesthetic guidelines that affect sign dimensions and materials.
Unlike agencies that design signs and send production to a third party,
we run design, print, and installation through one facility. That matters when there's a problem: there's no gap between who designed it, who printed it, and who put it up.
When Calgary Businesses and Organizations Need New Signage
New business opening in an established Calgary commercial district — Marda Loop, Inglewood, 17th Avenue, Kensington each have their own character and pedestrian flow patterns. An opening sign that works in a strip mall on Macleod Trail is not necessarily right for a heritage building on 9th Avenue SW. We assess the site before recommending a format.
Seasonal or promotional campaign — Temporary signs remain among the most cost-effective advertising formats available to Calgary retailers. A single portable sign positioned near a high-traffic Macleod Trail or Glenmore Trail corridor generates daily exposure at a fraction of the cost of digital advertising.
Community association event or election signage — Calgary has over 200 registered community associations. We've supported hundreds of them with directional boards, event signage, and election signs across communities from Haysboro and Lakeview to Mahogany and Glacier Ridge.
Construction or real estate development site — Calgary currently has 282 active construction projects. Hoarding signs, lot identification boards, and project entrance graphics require materials rated for Alberta UV exposure and winter temperatures. We specify substrate and ink accordingly.
Real estate professionals — For-sale and open-house signs are recurring orders for many Calgary real estate clients. Our sign management system tracks sign inventory, coordinates pickup, and confirms removal so your signs don't sit past their legal display window.
Trade show or event at BMO Centre or Telus Convention Centre — Calgary's annual trade show calendar runs year-round. Banner stands, retractable displays, and printed backdrops require fast production timelines. Our in-house print capability means we don't depend on an outside shop's schedule.
How Bold Signs Handles Signage Projects Across Calgary
Our facility in Southwest Calgary means we operate in the same part of the city as many of our longest-running clients — businesses in Glenmore, Haysboro, Palliser, Lakeview, and Oakridge have been ordering from us for years, not because we're convenient but because our team knows these neighborhoods.
We know which commercial properties along 90th Avenue SW have sign marker designations, which parking lots on Elbow Drive have bylaw-compliant placement areas, and how the Glenmore Reservoir's proximity affects sign durability during spring wind events.
Our sign management software coordinates signage Calgary delivery, pickup, and change requests through a single contact point. For businesses running ongoing temporary sign programs, this eliminates coordination friction — no missed pickups, no signs left in non-compliant locations past their display window.
We answer the phone Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, at (403) 263-2653. No answering machine during business hours.
Count on our sign company for your various needs.
Calgary Sign Bylaws — The Rules That Affect Your Sign Placement
Temporary signs on Calgary public property are prohibited. The City of Calgary's Temporary Signs on Highways Bylaw prohibits business signs on boulevards, medians, traffic circles, and any city-controlled right-of-way. This is actively enforced. Signs must be located on private property, minimum 0.75 metres back from the curb line.
Distance restrictions apply from the moment you place a sign. Temporary signs must be at minimum 15 metres from any intersection, 30 metres from a City bus shelter, transit bench, LRT station, or LRT platform, and at least 2 metres from a fire hydrant. Signs cannot create a pedestrian or traffic hazard.
Event-related signs have a 14-day window. If your sign promotes a specific event, it can only be displayed 14 days before the event and must be removed within 24 hours after the event concludes. Election signs operate under a separate set of rules with different timelines.
Residential districts have size limits. Temporary signs in residential areas are capped at 1 square metre if a residence occupies the same property. This affects home-based businesses, real estate listings, and garage sale signs.
Permanent signs require development permits in most cases. Fascia signs, projecting signs, and freestanding signs on commercial properties fall under Land Use Bylaw 1P2007 and typically require a development permit before installation.
